Watercolor Technique Workshop

Each month we will feature a workshop focusing on a technique.

July’s technique workshop was watercolor where we explored the reaction of ink on watercolor paper.

We stamped ink from the ink pads on to our craft sheets and added water to create water color. We then created a single ombre colored background by building and pushing ink down the sheet. We then used the same technique but with 3 colors and experimented with the bleeding of the colors into each section.

The last 2 cards had very similar techniques, smooshing and reverse smooshing. After putting ink pools on the craft sheet we used plastic sheet to pick up ink and smoosh it on the water color care and pressed it over the surface. The reverse smooshing technique is where you put ink over the craft mat, spritz with water and place your card over the ink smooshing the card on the craft sheet, peel the paper up and re apply as needed, this will give you a much softer finish than the traditional smooshing technique.
